During school breaks I host Cousin Camp or Kids Camp – it just depends on whether there is just one child, siblings or cousins. This is where Impactful Grandparenting Action Plans come into play.

To promote team unity, I get each kiddo a matching T-shirt. (Hint: Opt for a bright color – like orange – to help you keep track of campers. I received so many positive comments while we were out and about!) T-shirts are available on our Shop Page.
The huddle. It’s a fan favorite. Begin with the announcement of the day’s theme. You can adhere to the theme as loosely or as closely as you wish. I LOVE a good theme, but that may not be your jam.
Once the theme is announced, share any additional information required. For example, Ninja Day will need some background information about ninjas. Then read a Bible story (Yes, you can relate ninjas to a story in Bible. Check it out!). Beginning the day with a focus on God gets hearts and minds aligned with how God wants us to live.
Next: Discussion time. And personal sharing, by the kiddos and by you. This is key – personal sharing helps them get to know you better and sets the stage for them to open up, too. Fill the remainder of the day with crafts, learning and activities. If you opt to follow one of our Action Plans, you’re all set for a full day of fun.
Having a plan provides structure, so you aren’t faced with gaping windows of time to fill. And it helps ensure you are fully prepped for the day with any needed supplies. That’s why I created a library of fun Action Plans, available on our Shop page. You can access a free Ninja Day plan to see what an Impactful Grandparenting plan looks like.
Please. Please. Please don’t be afraid to explore new territory. Ask your campers what themes they would like. I never would have come up with Ninja Day or The Day of Surprises without their creative little minds. Post your ideas (and pictures) on Facebook or Instagram @ImpactfulGrandparenting so we can all benefit!
